In May 2019, a group led by Cristian Gomez, went to Colombia on a missions trip to share Christ through the game of soccer. We worked with an organization called Cosdecol and with them we ran soccer training sessions and would open each session up by sharing a devotional. Cristian grew up in Colombia, but now goes to Grand Canyon University and has started Cosdecol USA. Him and some of his friends bring in kids from the neighborhood nearby to play soccer every week and also share a devotional. Through the mission in Colombia and the mission in the United States, it is clear to see the impact that sharing the Gospel through soccer can have.
Costa Rica
In March of 2018, my senior class in high school went on a missions trip to Costa Rica. This is a trip that the senior class does every year and something that we had been fund raising for quite some time. While we were there we went from schools and villages doing “Vacation Bible Schools” (VBS). Some of the things that we would do is share a Bible story, have a craft, sing songs, and play games! One of the coolest things was after we had done everything that we had planned, most of the time we had extra time to just hang out, play games, and interact with the kids. Throughout this trip there were a lot of awesome relationships that were made and the Gospel was shared! Costa Rica was an awesome country to see. Whether it was the wildlife, the scenic views, or the unique culture, Costa Rica kept me speechless!
